Become an Ethical Hacker with IDEMIA
While you might think the tools hackers use are completely illegal, most are actually everyday tools of legitimate security professional. We use them also in our projects in IDEMIA.
One of the products that we work on in Poland Digital Lab is Keyless solution for Internet of Things. It allows to access vehicle without using a traditional mechanical key (or key-fob) using BLE or NFC technology and manage your car (lock specific door, close window, power action etc.) using mobile device.
To assess the security of our solution, we use these smart hacking devices and tools:
HackRF One is a Software Defined Radio (SDR) that enables accurate and fast transmission of radio signals. It can receive and transmit signals from 1 MHz to 6 GHz. The HackRF One is an open-source platform that works as a USB peripheral. It can be programmed and managed as stand-alone device and system.
While we are constantly surrounded by radio waves and digital tech such as broadcasting stations, WiFi, bluetooth, smart phones, GPS and all other IT infrastructures, the HackRF One is a SDR that can interact with any of these technologies. The majority of wireless systems in the digital age could easily be transceived by HackRF One.
For testing security it can be used to intercept the key fob signals to open car doors.
Proxmark 3 Kit
The proxmark3 is an advanced RFID research tool. It is open source, and has a great development community behind it. It can be used to copy a wide range of RFID cards.
Ubertooth One is the perfect tool to perform Bluetooth or BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) sniffing. Developed by Michael Ossman of GreatScottGadgets, this tool has been used a number of times by us at Attify during our pentesting engagements.
You can sniff traffic – actively and passively, pipe it to wiresharkdirectly, identify interesting values from the live capture to take control of an IoT device and lot more.
